About Hush Hush Music Group
Hush Hush Music Group (HHMG) is a management/publishing/consulting company in the music industry that represents producers, songwriters, and artists primarily in the Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B genres. HHMG was founded in 1999 by Benjamin Davis while attending college at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. During his junior year, he came up with the name ‘Hush Hush,’ because it was illegal to operate a private business on government property. Benjamin developed his audio engineering and vocal production abilities by recording fellow classmates/aspiring Hip Hop artists in his dorm room studio. In 2001, Benjamin met Teddy Turenne (former Vice President of HHMG). Benjamin and Teddy developed a strong business relationship that shared common interests. Benjamin promoted Teddy to Vice President of HHMG.
After Benjamin graduated from college, he recorded and worked with several independent artists such as Southern’s Finest, The True Ones, and Destin II B. To fund HHMG and future ventures, Benjamin worked on ships and oil rigs all around the world (i.e. Asia, Europe, Mexico, etc). Benjamin also received a commission as an officer in the United States Navy Reserve and currently received a honorable discharge as a Lieutenant. In 2001, Benjamin met hit music producer Laurence “Woo” Allen, who had production credits with artists such as: Mr. Cheeks (Legal Drug Money/Contango), B2K (Epic Records), Cam’ron (Roc-A-Fella Records), Ja Rule (The Inc. Records), Miilkbone (Death Row Records), and also worked with Rob Fusari, who produced for Lady Gaga and Destiny’s Child.
Benjamin and Woo developed a good business relationship purchasing beats for Hush Hush Music Group artists. In 2003, HHMG signed Woo and started shopping tracks to some of the biggest names in the music industry. HHMG then opened a home-based recording studio in Queens, New York, having several independent clients including up-and-coming So So Def Recordings artist ‘The Kid Slim,’ who had a song recorded at HHMG’s studio played on Hot 97, which is one of the biggest radio stations in New York City.
HHMG is represented by attorney at law Ian Waldon, Esq., who has represented Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Boy Records, Sean John Clothing, Blue Flame Marketing, Justin’s Restaurants, Trackmasters, Desert Storm Records, Steve Stoute (Translation Marketing), Keyshawn Johnson, Rockwilder, Cory Rooney, Steve Morales, Tommy Lee, BeBe Winans, DJ Clark Kent, DJ Clue, DJ Dirty Harry, and Chris Brown amongst others.
In 2004, the television show Punk’d on MTV played eleven (11) tracks/instrumentals produced by Woo on several episodes during the season. In 2005, Woo produced the hit single “Fast Cars” for the UK rap group Street Politiks, which was #1 on MTV Base and MTV Poland. In 2007, Woo produced an entire album for Zarina, a pop star from Kazakstan. One of the songs of the album titled “Hitch” had a music video shot and directed by Matt McDermitt and produced by world-renowned music video director Joseph Kahn, who has won several MTV Video Music Awards with nominations for Best Video of the Year for Brandy & Monica “The Boy Is Mine”, and Britney Spears “Toxic” among many others.
Also in 2007, HHMG started consulting for G2 Productions. G2 has a very bright future in music production, producing records for Freeway (Roc-A-Fella Records) and Lil Boosie (Hustle House Entertainment). In 2008, HHMG has started to do business with Tony Crow. Tony Crow discovered the producer Oak who is now a member of the songwriting team that wrote songs for such artists as Chris Brown, Mario, Jennifer Lopez, and many others. Tony also helped Atozzio Towns sign a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing.
In 2008-2009, Woo produced some songs for: Craig David (Sweet Oily Music – Russia), Tenny Ten (single “Swagnificent” released by Zy Records UK), Jad Choueiri (single “Funky Arabs” released by Melody Music Group in Arab Emirates and #1 video in Arab Emirates), Slava (single “As the Moon Goes Down” released in Russia), Alexia (single “Looking at Me” released by Sweet Oily Music in Russia), and Sabrina (Sweet Oily Music – Russia). Also in 2009, G2 produced two songs that appeared on the soundtrack for Universal Pictures “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish” movie directed by Billie Woodruff starring Christina Milian, released Nationwide in the summer of 2009.
In 2011, Woo produced a song titled “Sumo” featuring Twissman & Ginny B [Zy Records (UK)], which was #11 in the UK Commercial Pop Top 30 charts (governed by Music Week).
